HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT WORK SHOES FOR YOUR JOB

The right safety footwear for every job

In a previous article, we looked at the classification of safety standards that comply with European regulations on occupational safety. Now let's try to shed some light on their scope of application in the most practical way possible.

Are you a bricklayer, plumber or electrician?

The right work shoe for you is one that is classified as S3 safety standard with a water-repellent upper, crush-resistant toe cap, oil and hydrocarbon-resistant non-slip sole, shock absorption in the heel area and anti-perforation insole. Electrostatic and electromagnetic (ESD) protection dissipates static electricity accumulated by the body and prevents annoying electric shocks, which occur especially when in contact with devices sensitive to electrostatic phenomena.

Try Marra in S3 SRC ESD from our UP55 line!

Low, lightweight, soft and durable, it is designed to ensure prolonged foot comfort. Thanks to its sole with the exclusive and innovative Infinergy® system, these work shoes ensure the recovery of over 55% of energy with every step. The revolutionary CapLight technology of the ultra-light aluminium toe cap guarantees 50% less weight, and the super-breathable and absorbent lining with side air channels improves foot health, keeping them cool and dry all day long.

Are you a craftsman? Are you a carpenter or joiner?

Carpenters and joiners often have to bend down and adopt awkward positions while working, so they need flexible, high-performance footwear.

For those who work indoors, we recommend safety footwear that complies with the S1P safety standard, such as Park in the UP 55 line, which complies with the S1P SRC ESD safety standard. This is a low, lightweight, flexible shoe with a suede upper and lace-up fastening. It features the most innovative technology: over 55% energy recovery with every step thanks to the Infinergy® system, aluminium toe cap with Caplight technology that ensures 50% less impact, and a super-breathable and absorbent Wind3D System perforated lining to improve moisture absorption caused by foot perspiration.

For those who also work outdoors in environments that can be both dry and wet, we recommend an S3 protection standard, such as Varys (S3 SRC ESD) from the LK2 line, which is tall, lightweight, soft and durable with a black leather upper and lace-up closure. In addition to the exclusive Infinergy® and CapLight technologies, this model features a special lining with an antibacterial system and a self-cleaning sole with differentiated profiles and heights to increase the speed of liquid and waste discharge.

Are you involved in metal cutting?

You definitely need footwear that can protect you from hazardous dust and is water-resistant and puncture-resistant. We recommend S3 protection. The model we recommend is Stark (S3 SRC ESD) from the sport line, available in two different shapes – Natural Comfort11 and SuperComfort12 – to best suit your personal fit requirements and ensure maximum comfort as well as the most appropriate protection. The antibacterial lining ensures foot health, while the non-slip sole with LGS system ensures high performance.

Are you an assembler?

You work indoors, in a closed environment, and in this case, water resistance will not be a priority feature in your choice, but breathability certainly will be. The required safety standard will be S1 or S1P.

Try Toki (S1P SRC ESD) from the Sport line: a fresh and modern line in ultra-breathable fabric with an antibacterial lining and electrostatic and anti-perforation protection. It is available in two different shapes (Natural Comfort 11 and Super Comfort 12) to better meet your personal fit needs and ensure well-being and prolonged comfort throughout the day.

The non-slip sole with Light Grip System gives you maximum freedom of movement, while the multi-functional heel ensures greater grip on surfaces and reduces the risk of accidental falls.

Do you work in a mechanical workshop?

You will need comfortable work shoes with non-slip soles and uppers that are resistant to dust, water and oils, but which are also flexible and high-performance.

We recommend the Tony model from the Street line. A shoe that is perfect for both summer and winter, with all the safety features of an S3 SRC ESD standard, black leather upper and external eyelets for easy cleaning. Side zip for quick fitting, ultra-light aluminium toe cap and oil-resistant and water-repellent PU toe cap cover.

Choosing the shoe that best suits your real needs is essential for working at your best. Do not overlook the fundamental specifications; do not be guided solely by hearsay or aesthetics. Inform yourself, reflect and choose the best available.
