How are safety shoes classified?

SB work shoes:

These are the basic safety precautions, whose difference compared to a shoe, in common use is the addition of a reinforced steel toe to protect the toes from falling heavy objects and an oil resistant sole.

S1/S1P work shoes:

In addition to steel toe protection, these shoes have a sole that is non-slip, not only for oils but also for hydrocarbons. In addition, the heel area is structured to absorb shocks and thus protect against impact effects.If a P also appears next to the initials S1, this means that inside the shoe there is also a special anti-puncture insole.

S2 work shoes:

The code S2 indicates that water-repellent protection against water is added, but not total waterproofing with respect to liquids.

S3 work shoes:

To the characteristics listed above is added an anti-perforation insole to work safely on rough terrain and on construction sites.

Then there are the safety standards S4 and S5 that are totally waterproof - they are rubber shoes and polymeric materials - and can withstand immersion in water. The first ones are supplied with reinforced toe cap, non-slip sole, antistatic protection, and heel protection; the latter has an anti-puncture lamina in addition.
